64 Crew (SD) skin

Post by scorp316 » January 12th, 2013, 1:53 am

This is a skin for Surreal64 that I have been working on for the past few days.

Features and changes made:
- For SD users only
- New music added (To be honest, I was getting sick of the one used in the default skin.)
- New control layout in the rom list menu
- Video preview and boxart support (no screenshot support)
- New loading background
- Resized backgrounds
- Control configuration in the In-game menu no longer has transparency, which made it a bit hard to look at during gameplay
- Credits.txt has been updated (Thanks to FrankMorris and his work on the HD version!!! :D)

This download includes two folders (the skin and some extra stuff). The extra stuff includes 2 photoshop files of my work with the background and the loading background as well. It also includes a sprite for the control layout that is used in the rom list background (no, sprites don't work on Surreal64 [but could be useful if the feature is added later on]). The skin folder is just plug and play. :D

Update (1/16/13)

I have made some fixes to the skin, today. This SD skin is finally complete. Here is how it looks like now:

Fixes made:

- Rom list background readjusted (collided with the background quite a bit)
- Controls no longer show up in the Credits and Synopsis
- Readjusted the huge boxart image during the loading screen
- Erased the control panel background in the main menu screen
- Readjusted the texts in the romlist, main menu, launcher, and the info panel
- Readjusted the launcher background (looks a lot nicer than before)

I think you mean the HD one. This one is a bit different. For instance, the HD one doesn't have the controls on the romlist. I also did some other fixes to the skin.

This skin is only for 480i/480p users.

You're welcome. :)

Edit:

This skin is now available in the Repository in "scorp316's stuff" folder under "Surreal64 skins" folder. :D

You're welcome. As for HD, I don't really use HD all that much since I can't record with component cables. It shouldn't be too hard to do HD (just a few stuff needs to be resized to 1280x720). I'm not sure how well it will turn out though. I'll see what I can do on Monday night (maybe get it started by then).

I might re-release the SD one as well (I just thought of something clever today that might resolve the rom list controls from appearing in the credits and the synopsis). I just hope it works. :?

Shouldn't you at least give a shout to the original author, whoever it is..?

I also don't understand how it is possible that you have the PSD files when they didn't even existed in the first place.. It was made using vector editor so basically the whole skin is just one XML text file.

Other than that it's OK ;)

Sorry about that. I thought that the Credits.txt was enough of a shout out, but it was more of a indirect shout out. Thanks for your work, FrankMorris. I also updated the first post. :D

As for the PSD files, all of the images of your HD skin are in PNG and JPG formats on my Xbox. I just transferred them over to my PC, used photoshop, and re-sized and edited the images.

Not sure what you mean about the skin being XML text file. :?

If i may make a suggestion, take a look at my HD skin for Surreal64CE (Xtras in Progress section or Skin section/other skins).

Though its getting old now nothing major has changed since.
Yes its a HD skin but the principal is the same.
I'll explain.
The emulator requires your skin files to comply to a naming convention it expects, this is fixed, however, how you choose to use your sprites is your decision.
You will undestand my ranting better with the skin files in front of you.
