This guide is so that you can back up and play your legally purchased or backup Game Cube games via an sd card on your wii.

Things to consider
Bear in mind that this is still a work in progress, it still has bugs and things are not perfect, cut scenes lag and jump etc but as far as i can tell upto now games play fine

What you will need
1) A softmodded wii following the Softmod Any wii guide http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-faqs-guides-tutorials-only/96886-guide-softmod-any-wii.html
2) A way to rip your Game cube game - Cleanrip http://cleanrip.googlecode.com/files/CleanRip-v1.0.4.zip
3) A compatible sd card formatted to fat32 to store the games (preferably SDHC cards up to 32GB class 10 are recommended, formatted with 64kb clusters)
4) A PC
5) This file http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?z6tyfwx2lf3jw6k
6) A game cube controller to play them

Different revisions of DML
If you wish to try a different revision of DML I will post it here.

DML rev 36
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?06rdkeja5uqztkg
DML rev 43
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?dpbru74dmus69u9
DML rev 47
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?3dy63u9trax7jvb
DML rev 49
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?0dusnih06ut22t1
DML rev 50
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?dk5b1plk1pwfrlu
DML rev 52
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?67tt8xeltxdthup
DML rev 55
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?im35l9724p45p74
DML rev 56
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?bra1tqdeidmdf5d
DML rev 58
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mk6ez2evqx4dye5
DML rev 1.3
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?gb96ifn8sd1875o
DML rev 1.4
http://www.mediafire.com/?gxa9kxkq5mjjmub
DML rev 1.5
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?2962kvwjakmnaea

To use this revision simply replace the .wad file from the pack you downloaded in the What you will need spoiler with the one you want to use and continue with the guide

(Currently rev 21 is in the pack and I may change it depending on the most compatibility)

Chapter 1
1) Extract Cleanrip to the apps folder on your sd card

Image

Note the file structure of the sd card circled in red.

2) Place the sd card in your wii and switch on

3) Navigate to the HBC and load cleanrip

4) Put your GC game in the wii and rip the game to front sd card. (It usually takes about 10 minutes to rip a game)

5) Done, sd card back to the PC.

Chapter 2
1) Grab the file from part 5 of the things you will need and extract it.

2) You should now have a folder that looks like this on your PC

Image

3) Cut and paste your ripped iso from the sd card to the PC

4) Needless to say, you need to copy the contents of the "Put into SD card folder" over to your sd card so that you have something like this on the sd card

Image

5) Navigate to the DiscEx folder and here you want to drag your .iso or.gcm file onto the DiscEx.exe, this will convert the file for use with DML.

6) Once completed you should have a folder named with a title id and some files within mainly a game.gcm or .iso file. This folder should be moved to the sd card and placed within the game folder. You should have something that looks like this -

Again note the file structure of the sd card as this is important.

Chapter 3 (optional)
If you want to compress the game file then do this with the file before you drag and drop it on DiscEx -

1. open up your DML folder
2. open GCMUtility0.5 folder
3. open GCMUtility
4. click add .iso
5. locate and add .iso or .gcm
6. when you click open you will see the game in the box
7. check the little box next to the banner
8. then click shrink
9. save the file to somewhere (somewhere where you will remember)
10. then go about doing the rest of the guide with the small shrunk file

FYI - Some games will not work compressed but will when they are not so just bare this in mind

Final Chapter
1) Return the sd card to the wii and switch on

2) Navigate to the HBC and load wad manager (included in the package)

3) Install the wad file that is included in the pack (this will overwrite your CMIOS and so you will no longer be able to play backups via disc although you will still be able to play originals)

4) Return the HBC and load up Neogamma

5) Press down on the wiimote to Load games and change the option to load GC Games via DML then press up and press A to search for games.

6) Select your game and press A

7) Very important - You musrt have a Wii game or GC game in the Wii or it will boot you back to the system menu!

8) That is it, play your game

Optional - Play from Wiiflow
1) Grab this revision http://code.google.com/p/open-wiiflow-mod/downloads/list
2) Rename the file boot.dol and replace your boot.dol file in your Wiiflow folder
3) Load Wiiflow in the usual manner
4) Navigate to the bottom right of the screen and press B on the Wiimote until You come to your GC games
5) Select game and play (same as the rest of the guide applies, You must have a game in the Wii)

Optional - Play from CFG Usbloader
1) Grab cfg usbloader from http://code.google.com/p/cfg-loader-mod/downloads/list
2) Rename the file boot.dol and replace your boot.dol file in your Cfg folder
3) Load Cfg in the usual manner
4) All games should show up in your main screen

No offense dominater but your guide is a little outdated, first DIOS MIOS LITE is for runing games from sd card and DIOS MIOS is the new one and plays from usb, the last estable rev of DML that works fine is r58 the others had problems, the DIOS MIOS v2.2 now run the games from usb and is the only one crediar is updating now, don't need a disc on the drive anymore and even you can use wii sports if a game give you problems on both DML and DM, NEOGAMMA is now obsolete it exist the superb DML booter tough in my opinion the best loader to run the games trough DM or DML is usbloader gx it has even banner support, there's a new DiscEx and other tool called GCReEx to make the games .FST archives

Here's the last estable version of DML v2.2:

And the newest compatible loaders (cool ones!!!)

DM Booter r22 +.

usbloader gx is nice but it has issues with some games when running in progressive mode. Hopefully that problem will be fixed sometime.

i have some questions i hope you can answer

1. i have wii games on my external hdd but my hdd is 500 gigs and is in fat 32 but i dont know what the allocation size is can you help me i have easus partition master program

2. if i set my alocation size to 32k clusters will this affect my wii games like slower loadeing or anything like that?

3. what is everything i need to get dios mios working? i have a 4.3u wii

1.- Mine too is a 500 HD at first I can't run DM and had problems with Wii games loading slow and crashing in some points in fat 32 and ntfs (The last story always crashed at chapter 3)

2.- Yep plus your chances are your games are going to corrupt themselves with the change

3.- Fear not I developed a 100% secure way to have both runing like a charm here goes:

1.- First of all backup all your Wii games on your pc with Wii backup manager (superb tool!!!)

http://www.wiibackupmanager.co.uk/index ... er_Build78

Make sure you follow all the steps IN THIS CORRECT AND STRICT ORDER!!!

2.- Using windows delete all the partitions on your hd.

3.- Make a new ntfs partition format it and mark/make it primary and active (just one and leave the rest space unpartitioned) allocate the size as you desire and note this is going to be the fat 32 DIOS MIOS/GC used partition besides it will work with emulators, apps and emulated nands as well (I allocated 100 GB for this)

4.- Now with Wii backup manager open that partition as drive 1 and in the "tools" tab select format drives (BE VERY CAREFUL THE ONE FIRST SEEN THERE COULD BE YOUR C:\ PC DRIVE SELECT THE ONE OF THE USB HD AGAIN OR YOU'LL FORMAT YOUR PC WINDOWS DRIVE AND LOSE EVERYTHING!!!) select fat 32 and 32 kb cluster

5.- Make a "Games" folder and throw all your converted games converted with DiscEx or GCReEx as you do in your tut

6.- Install the DM v2.2 wad I provided in my previous post with wad manager v8 on your Wii

7.- Conect your HD and run trough HBC any of the loaders provided in my previous post (usbloadergx if you wanna see cool features emuxtras wannabes!!!)

8.- If any of the loaders except DML booter does not show any games, just edit the gamecube path in the settings menu to point to USB Games folder, then launch the game using the option run from usb (DON'T USE THE OPTION COPY TO SD!!!)

9.- You should see the DIOS MIOS LOGO (it takes a while the first time but will work guaranteed!!! :D) and the game should be runing fine now

10.- Now let's take care of that damn Wii games to make it 100% free of incompatibility issues

11.- Conect again the HD drive to pc and make a second partition with the remaining space of the drive make it ntfs again but this time make it extended (not primary and not active)

12.- Now open that same partition again and this time it should let you mark it as "logical" do it and open wii backup manager again.

13.- Select the new ntfs partition we just made and again in tools format drive

14.- Select WBFS and the option you see fit for your needs

15.- You're all set use this partition for Wii games and you'll never going to have any issue with them nor the drive or the games will corrupt themselves (WARNING: NEVER TRY TO OPEN THE WBFS PARTITION/DRIVE IN WINDOWS OR IT WILL ASK FOR FORMAT AND SCREW YOUR GAMES!!! USE WIIBACKUP MANAGER FOR HANDLING YOUR WII GAMES THERE)

Finally just a few notes, some people are going to say the WBFS format is old and obsolete but trust me, is the best format to play Wii games at full speed with no problems and corruptions Ntfs and Fat 32 ill always be just 85%-90% compatible with all the games ok?

Hope this helps
